7/14/25 — The New Jersey Civic Information Consortium (NJCIC) has released its 2025 Impact Report, showcasing impactful partnerships, strategic investments, and community-driven media initiatives that are closing information gaps across the state.

Since launching in 2021, NJCIC has awarded over $10 million to local newsrooms, community groups, academic institutions, and nonprofit media organizations working to strengthen civic information across the Garden state. The 2025 Impact Report reflects on a transformative four years for civic information in New Jersey — one marked by deepened collaborations, more equitable journalism, and real-world outcomes for residents statewide.

“This report is a testament to the power of public investment in local news,” said Chris Daggett, Board Chair and Interim Executive Director of the Consortium. “We are proud to share the stories, data, and voices that illustrate how grantees are improving access to information and strengthening democracy in New Jersey.”

Highlights from the report include:

  • Grantmaking milestones: Over $10 million awarded since 2021
  • Grantee impact: As of May 2025, 32 grantees have produced 9,065 stories.
  • Strengthening the journalism pipeline: More than 800 stories have been produced by students and emerging journalists participating in Consortium-funded pipeline programs.
